Residential Building on Orce Nikolov Street No. 72

Buildings/
The residential building of Kolonomos Benko was designed by Mikhail Matveyev in 1937. The building is part of a row, positioned linearly, oriented towards the interior of the block, zoned separately with a park. The street façade follows the line of the frontage, while the rear façade is oriented towards another building. The rear half of the building is narrower and deviates from the eastern front, forming a small courtyard, towards which the openings are oriented. The building develops in a basement, ground floor, and two floors in the rear zone, with the kitchen placed repetitively in this area, while in the front zone, a loft is raised, which leads to an accessible roof terrace on top of the remaining volume. The building has entrances from both the southern and northern sides, leading to a shared stairwell, and on the ground floor, there is also an entrance through the terrace. The building follows the typical modern expression, with simple geometrization of the volume, with the central part projecting on the first and second floors, transitioning into a parapet fence for the terrace on the attic, while the symmetry of the building is disrupted by single-sided balconies in the depth of the projection, forming a small porch on the ground floor.
