House of the Kapetanović Family
Buildings/The individual family house of the Kapetanović family was designed in 1935 by architect Ivan Artemushkin. The building is situated on the street frontage at the street corner of Venec Car Dušan and Kopitarova Сtreets (now Sv. Kliment Ohridski Blvd.) and develops across a basement, ground floor, and upper floor.
Positioned as a freestanding house, it is oriented towards neighboring buildings on two sides, with the corner between the street façade and the façade facing the park area emphasized by a curve, further highlighted by an angular balcony element, with a treatment of balcony railings, a characteristic feature of modern architectural expression. The upper floor of the building, in the zone of vertical communications and the corner, follows the façade line, while the rest of the building is recessed from it, forming terraces with concrete railings extending from the façade and rising towards the higher parts. On the ground and first floors, emphasized horizontals are noticeable around the window openings, conveyed through small protrusions and decorative joints, while the communication core is highlighted by a vertical volume and window openings running along the entire height of the staircase area. The entrance to the staircase core, and thus the main entrance to the building, is from the side of the boulevard. Additionally, the elevated ground floor is accessed via a terrace.
