Scientific Institute for Tobacco – Prilep
Buildings/The building was constructed to meet the needs of the Tobacco Institute in Prilep. Given the favorable conditions for tobacco cultivation in the Prilep region, an initiative was launched for the Institute’s construction. The building was erected based on the submitted design by architect Milorad Petrović.
Conceptually, the architecture of this building is characterized by a solid academic foundation in both its functional and structural elements. Notably, the use of symmetry and the emphasis on the central façade section, which houses the entrance, reflect the application of proven academic methods in the basic composition of the façade volumes. Alongside these academic principles, the architect incorporated design elements inspired by modern architecture. This is evident in the inclusion of features such as window openings arranged in horizontal bands, the use of simple dividing cornices to accentuate the primary volumetric articulation, and a rational geometric arrangement of the elements.
